From Tool To Tapestry
Der Intro-Kurs in das Fachgebiet "Textil- und Material-Design", geleitet durch Jenny Pilz, behandelte das Erstellen von Rapporten anhand des Themas "Tinnef & Gedöns".
Ausgangspunkt dieses Projekts war eine einfache Zeichnung, meine Interpretation eines Stücks "Gedöns": ein Multitool Schlüsselanhänger.
The introductory course in the subject area of ‘Textile and Material Design’, led by Jenny Pilz, dealt with the creation of repeats based on the theme of ‘Tinnef & Gedöns’ (trinkets and knick-knacks).
The starting point for this project was a simple drawing, my interpretation of a piece of ‘fuss’: a multi-tool key ring.
Die Rapporte erinnerten mich hauptsächlich an Tapeten. Besonders spannend fand ich den Gedanken, etwas typisch Handwerkliches mit einer feinen barocken Tapete zu kombinieren.
Auch die folgenden Kolorierungen waren stark an englische barocke Muster angelehnt, royale Töne betonen den Kontrast zwischen Alltäglichem und Ornamentalem.
The rapports mainly reminded me of wallpaper. What I found exciting was the idea of combining something typically handcrafted with the delicate elegance of a baroque pattern.
The following colourings were also strongly inspired by English baroque designs, using royal tones to enhance the contrast between the everyday and the ornamental.
